We had a fabulous weekend last year at West Bay for our Fall Cruise and we're going to try it again. An old NSA haunt, West Bay can be iffy for anchoring if the wind is not right. The beach on the southern shore of Pamlico Sound is very nice and the anchorage beautiful, unless the wind is out of the north, which makes it too rough. So, we'll hope for a S or SW wind and moderate temps. We plan to have a social on the beach sometime Saturday (bring a dish). If you don't have a working dinghy, there is always somebody that can give ou a ride.
We normally anchor near 35°01.869'N 076°20.082'W. That is on the outside of West Bay. We typically anchor outside because of easier access to the beach. There is no beach on the inside of West Bay.
Stay tuned for more information.
